Zhang Jin joins Pacific Rim: Maelstrom

As Pacific Rim: Maelstrom‘s production gets underway in Sydney, Australia, Variety has announced that Chinese actor Zhang Jin has been cast in the film. Jin has starred in several action films, such as Killzone 2 and IP Man 3. His role is currently unknown.

Additionally, Pacific Rim: Maelstrom has cast several other Chinese actors in the film, including Wesley Wong, Lily Ji, Chen Zitong, Lan Yingying and Qian Yong Chen. Xiao Yang and Korean actor Kim Jeong-Hoon will also have cameos in the film.

Dr. Jack Gao, an executive with Legendary’s parents company Beijing Wanda Cultural Industry Group, said “We are very excited that we have such amazing Chinese talent joining us on Pacific Rim. Our new story has a strong connection to China and this great Chinese cast will help us bring it to life.”

Pacific Rim: Maelstrom is set for release on February 23rd 2018, with Steven S. DeKnight (Daredevil) directing a cast that also includes John Boyega (Star Wars: The Force Awakens), Adria Arjona (True Detective), Scott Eastwood (Suicide Squad), Cailee Spaeny (Counting to 1,000), Levi Meaden (Aftermath), Karan Brar (Diary of a Wimpy Kid), Nick Tarabay (Spartacus) and Jing Tian (Police Story: Lockdown).
