Sylvester Stallone in talks for Rambo TV series

August 21, 2013 by admin

With the rumoured fifth instalment in the Rambo movie franchise seemingly stuck in development hell, it appears that the Vietnam veteran and one man army could be heading to the small screen instead, with Entertainment One and Nu Image announcing today that they’re partnering up to develop a TV series based around the property.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sylvester Stallone “is in talks to participate on a ‘creative level’ and potentially reprise his iconic role as Rambo.” Stallone has of course portrayed the character on four occasions, most recently in 2008, while Rambo also has past TV experience thanks to the short lived 80s animated series Rambo: The Force of Freedom. Yes, some clever television executive really thought the franchise was suitable for Saturday morning kid’s TV…

Stallone – who is currently in Bulgaria shooting The Expendables 3 – is also potentially set to reprise his other signature role in the near future, with Fruitvale Station director Ryan Coogler busy developing the Rocky spin-off Creed which is set to star Michael B. Jordan (Chronicle) as the grandson of Carl Weathers’ Apollo Creed.
