Ben Affleck talks more about his role as The Dark Knight in Batman vs. Superman

October 25, 2013 by admin

We’ve already heard some comments from Ben Affleck about his controversial casting as The Dark Knight in Warner Bros.’ Batman vs. Superman but now the actor has offered up a few more words about his upcoming role in the Man of Steel sequel, explaining how he was initially unsure of taking on the part until he was convinced otherwise by director Zack Snyder.

“Initially I was reluctant as I felt I didn’t fit the traditional mold,” Affleck tells 411 Mania. “But once Zack showed me the concept, and that it would be both different from the great movies that Christopher Nolan and Christian Bale made but still in keeping with tradition I was excited. Doing something different and new is always tricky and part of the thrill and the risk is that initially it confounds expectations. The truth is, it’s the movie and the execution of it is what all the actors depend on and I believe in Zack’s vision.”

Affleck then went on to discuss the previous comments from Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara, where he described this latest take on the Dark Knight as a “tired, weary and seasoned” crimefighter: “Kevin described it aptly. I don’t want to go further because I want to be able to capitalize on what is new about this iteration by having it be a surprise to the audience.”

Batman vs. Superman is being penned by David S. Goyer (Batman Begins, Man of Steel) and will see Affleck joined in the cast by Henry Cavill as Superman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Diane Lane as Martha Kent and Lawrence Fishburne as Perry White. It is set for release on July 17th 2015.
