Sony teaming up with Stan Lee for new superhero movie

November 26, 2013 by admin

Sony is obviously keen to expand its superhero output, having only recently announced an expansion of its Amazing Spider-Man franchise with sequels and spin-offs, but with the majority of the other big properties held by Marvel Studios, Fox and Warner Bros., the studio has now decided to create its own original superheroes.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Marvel legend Stan Lee is currently developing an original live action superhero movie with The Amazing Spider-Man producer Avi Arad, the former head of Marvel Studios. Plot details are being kept under wraps, with Arad also refusing to reveal the name of the project, stating that “some titles give away too much.” Apparently the film is still in the very early stages of development, with Lee and Arad set to meet with potential writers soon.

The currently-untitled project is not the only original Stan Lee property on the horizon, with the first instalment of the animated trilogy Stan Lee’s Mighty 7 (a.k.a. SLAM 7) set for release next year. You can watch the trailer for SLAM 7 here.
