Chris Pratt wants Star-Lord to kill Iron Man

July 25, 2014 by admin

During a press conference in London promoting Guardians of the Galaxy (read our ★★★★ review here), director James Gunn spoke about Chris Pratt’s ideas of what would happen if and when the Guardians meet Earth’s Mightiest Heroes...

“Chris and I were driving somewhere and we were having one of our ridiculous conversations about Guardians and what we could do with this universe,” the director explained. “And he looked at me and said, ‘dude, I really, really think Star-Lord should kill Iron Man. It would be so awesome if he just came down, and shot Tony Stark in the face. People would be so surprised!'”

“Marvel will never use any of my ideas, so this isn’t a spoiler”, Pratt adds. “But in the comics, Tony Stark and Gamora have a little thing – and how does Peter Quill feel about that? And he’s all like, ‘I don’t like it’ and then Rocket hears the ‘I don’t like it’ and so he shoots Tony Stark in the face?! That would be awesome! People would be super mad, but it would be kind of great!”

“Everyone would be like, ‘why did you do that?'”, Pratt continues. “And Marvel would be like, ‘Robert Downey Jr. earns $100 million a picture and we can’t afford him anymore. Pratt works minimal wage and he’ll kill anybody.'”

James Gunn then joked that the rest of the movie would be a comic book version of Weekend at Bernies.
