Will Wonder Woman appear in The CW’s Arrow?

September 11, 2012 by admin

Last week it was revealed that The CW was looking to extend its DC Comics output beyond the upcoming Arrow TV series by hiring Allan Heinberg (Grey’s Anatomy) to pen a pilot script for a Wonder Woman show entitled Amazon, which is said to focus on the early pre-superhero years of Diana, Princess of Themyscira. Should Amazon make it to the screen, this naturally opens up the possibility of a crossover between the two characters, although Arrow executive producer Andrew Kreisberg has been quick to play down the speculation, stating that it’s unlikely Wonder Woman will be popping up in Starling City in the foreseeable future…

“Our show definitely takes place in a much more realistic world,” Kreisberg tells The Hollywood Reporter. “There’s no superpowers, superheroes and aliens. With Wonder Woman, Diana of Themyscira, there are superpowers. I don’t foresee crossovers but one of the great things about superheroes is that they’re constantly being reimagined. There’s the Adam West and Christopher Nolan versions of Batman and one doesn’t obviate the other. The Lynda Carter version was great and now the CW is hopefully developing another wonderful version that will be a nice compliment to Arrow.”

Arrow is set to begin on The CW on October 10th, with a cast that includes Stephen Amell (The Vampire Diaries) as Oliver Queen / Arrow, Katie Cassidy (Supernatural) as Dinah Laurel Lance, Colin Donnell (Pan Am) as Tommy Merlyn, David Ramsey (Dexter) as John Diggle, Willa Holland (The O.C.) as Thea Queen, Susanna Thompson (Kings) as Moira Queen and Paul Blackthorne (Justice League: Doom) as Detective Quentin Lance. Kreisberg is joined on the producing team by Green Lantern screenwriters Greg Berlanti and Marc Guggenheim, while the pilot episode has been directed by David Nutter (Game of Thrones).
