Man of Steel early screening reaction extremely positive

February 27, 2013 by admin

A few weeks ago we heard that an early screening of Man of Steel had taken place and the reaction was positive, and now JoBlo are reporting that a source of theirs – whom they trust explicitly – has seen the film as part of a number of screenings that Warner Bros. is holding to gauge fan reaction, and the response has been overwhelmingly positive:

– Imagine a Nolan story with Snyder effects/action.
– It’s the best movie of the year.
– There’s TONS of action with Superman kicking all kinds of ass in his suit.
– The cape is CG’d most of the time so it can look awesome.
– They have intentionally left out most of the the Super action in trailers to save it.
– It’s not nearly as dour and serious as the trailers suggest.
– The movie is complete, minus the 3D post-conversion, which is currently taking place

Much of the negative talk surrounding Man of Steel has centered on the fact that it looks very melancholy, much in the vein that Christopher Nolan’s work on Batman was. Whilst I didn’t share that sentiment and always had faith that the film would be much more upbeat whilst still dealing with serious issues, it’s nice to hear that that will be the case.

I know many fans are clamoring to see some of the action, and whilst I am glad myself that, as the source claims, they are holding it back (far too many films these days give away their big action pieces in trailers), I still expect the next trailer – due in April, according to JoBlo – will showcase a fair bit of that action to really sell that Man of Steel will be unlike anything we have seen from a Superman movie before. It is time for Supes to show off all that he can do in a physical way, and I’m glad to hear that we will be getting a ‘tonne’ of it.

With Chris Nolan producing, David S. Goyer penning the story and Zack Snyder dishing out the action, I have had a lot of faith in this movie from conception, and as we get closer to its release, the more we hear the more I am impressed.

Man of Steel is set for release on June 14th with a cast that includes Henry Cavill (Immortals) as Clark Kent / Superman, Amy Adams (The Fighter) as Lois Lane, Russell Crowe (Les Miserables) as Jor-El, Michael Shannon (Boardwalk Empire) as General Zod, Kevin Costner (Hatfields & McCoys) as Jonathan Kent, Diane Lane (Secretariat) as Martha Kent, Laurence Fishburne (Contagion) as Perry White, Ayelet Zurer (Angels & Demons) as Lara Lor-Van and Antje Traue (Pandorum) as Faora.
