Jon M. Chu to direct G.I. Joe 3

June 12, 2013 by admin

Having given the green light to a third movie in the G.I. Joe franchise as soon as the second hit cinemas earlier this year, Paramount Pictures and MGM have now tapped G.I. Joe: Retaliation director Jon M. Chu to return for the next instalment.

At this point in time, it’s unknown which actors will return for G.I. Joe 3, although it is expected that Chu will look to reunite with the likes of Bruce Willis (General Joseph Colton) and Dwayne Johnson (Roadblock). Paramount is said to be meeting with a shortlist of four screenwriters for the threequel, with an appointment expected to be made shortly.

G.I. Joe: Retaliation has pulled in over $360 million at the global box office, almost $60 million more than that of its predecessor, the Stephen Sommers-helmed G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra. Chu is currently prepping another 80’s toy adaptation in the long-rumoured live-action remake of Masters of the Universe.
