Ruth Negga joins Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., ABC developing an Agent Carter series

September 19, 2013 by admin

According to BlackFilm, actress Ruth Negga (World War Z, 12 Years a Slave) has joined the cast of ABC’s upcoming Avengers spin-off Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. in an as-yet-unrevealed recurring role. Negga will line up with series regulars Clark Gregg (Agent Phil Coulson), Ming-Na Wen (Agent Melinda May), Brett Dalton (Agent Grant Ward), Iain De Caestecker (Agent Leo Fitz), Elizabeth Henstridge (Agent Jemma Simmons) and Chloe Bennet (Skye) in the Joss Whedon-produced series, which is due to get underway in the States and the UK next week.

Meanwhile Deadline is reporting that ABC and Marvel Studios are looking to expand their small screen output by developing a concept for a potential TV series inspired by Agent Carter, the recent Marvel One-Shot on the Iron Man 3 Blu-ray, which saw Hayley Atwell reprising the role of World War II heroine Peggy Carter. According to the site, the Agent Carter series “is in very early stages, one of several in the works and Marvel, and is in the process of locking in a writer.”
