Dane DeHaan talks The Amazing Spider-Man 2, new shot of Emma Stone’s Gwen Stacy

January 9, 2014 by admin

With just a few short months to go before its release, we should expect to hear plenty of talk from the cast and crew of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 in the near future, and Dane DeHaan has taken the opportunity to discuss his character Harry Osborn and his friendship with Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) during an interview with Digital Spy…

“When you first meet Harry he’s just graduated from high school, and he has to come back to New York to help deal with Oscorp, and its legacy, and his father. He also sees Peter Parker for the first time in a long time; they were childhood friends. So it’s really about Harry having a friendship with Peter and an allegiance to Peter, but also being the heir apparent to Oscorp, and having to deal with that. Yeah, and it’s a friendship that… I mean, they haven’t been friends for such a long time, but they definitely both feel like they used to be best friends, and ideally they would love to rekindle that friendship.”

DeHaan then went on to discuss the role of Oscorp in tormeting Garfield’s friendly neighborhood Spider-Man: ” It’s becoming very obvious that all of these villains are originating from within Oscorp, in one way or the other. There are things that Harry feels he owes Peter, and things he needs from Peter, there are things he feels he needs from Spider-Man, and then there’s his responsibility to Oscorp. It’s a very complicated storyline, really cool and dynamic.”

And, on the subject of Oscorp, we’ve also got a new shot of Emma Stone’s Gwen Stacy at the evil corporation:

We’ve always known that Spider-Man’s most important battle has been within himself: the struggle between the ordinary obligations of Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spider-Man. But in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Peter Parker finds that a greater conflict lies ahead.

It’s great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there’s no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: OsCorp.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is set for release on April 18th 2014 in the UK and May 2nd 2014 in North America with a cast that also includes Sally Field, Paul Giamatti, Chris Cooper, Felicity Jones, Colm Feore, B.J. Novak, Chris Zylka, Embeth Davidtz, and Campbell Scott.
