Ruben Fleischer, Adam McKay, Rawson Thurber and Jonathan Levine among contenders for Ant-Man

May 30, 2014 by Gary Collinson

Despite rumours that Marvel Studios co-president and Agent Carter helmer Louis D’Esposito is set to step up to the plate, Heat Vision is reporting that Marvel has identified a list of potential candidates to replace Edgar Wright on the studio’s first Phase Three offering Ant-Man. Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland), Adam McKay (Anchorman), Rawson Thurber (We’re the Millers), and Jonathan Levine (Warm Bodies) are all said to be in the mix, although the latter will likely be ruled out due to other commitments.

Ant-Man is currently scheduled for release on July 17th 2015, and with filming due to get underway in July, Marvel has little time to secure a replacement for Wright, who left the project last week after spending eight years attached to the film, reportedly owing to enforced rewrites from Marvel chief Kevin Feige.

Ant-Man will see Paul Rudd (Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues) leading the cast as Scott Lang alongside Michael Douglas (Behind the Candelabra) as Hank Pym, while Patrick Wilson (Watchmen), Evangeline Lilly (The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug), Corey Stoll (House of Cards), Matt Gerald (Escape Plan) and Michael Pena (American Hustle) are also set to feature.
