Hugh Jackman on Wolverine joining The Avengers and fighting The Hulk

May 20, 2014 by Gary Collinson

Hugh Jackman is set to make his seventh appearance as Wolverine this week with the release of X-Men: Days of Future Past [read our review here] and it looks more than likely that he’ll be back as Logan for X-Men: Apocalypse, as well as the next Wolverine sequel. After hinting that he could be ready to hang up the claws after Wolverine 3 (or The Wolverine 2, if we’re forgetting about X-Men Origins: Wolverine), Jackman has since indicated that he could be open to continuing in the role beyond that point, and now he’s spoken of one ambition he has left to fill – seeing Wolverine alongside Earth’s Mightiest Heroes…

“I would love to see him as part of The Avengers, because there’s a great dysfunction among that team, and I think Wolverine would fit right into that,” Jackman tells IGN. “He’d like that. There’s no doubt that he’d get in a fight with Hulk at some point. Those two bad, rage-filled characters are going to square off at some point. It would be quite fun. I don’t know how much fun to shoot it would be because I’m sure I’d be on the worst end of it, but hey, he can heal.”

Of course the chances of it ever happening are slim, but would you like to see Jackman’s Logan and Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk going at it, a la Wolverine’s first comic book appearance?

X-Men: Days of Future Past sees X-Men veterans Hugh Jackman (Wolverine), Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique), James McAvoy (Professor X), Michael Fassbender (Magneto), Nicholas Hoult (Beast), Patrick Stewart (Professor X), Ian McKellen (Magneto), Lucas Till (Havok), Halle Berry (Storm), Anna Paquin (Rogue), Ellen Page (Kitty Pryde), Shawn Ashmore (Iceman) and Daniel Cudmore (Colossus) joined in the cast by franchise newcomers Evan Peters (American Horror Story) as Quicksilver, Booboo Stewart (The Twilight Saga: Eclipse) as Warpath, Omar Sy (The Intouchables) as Bishop, Fan Bingbing (Iron Man 3) as Blink, Adan Canto (The Following) as Sunspot, Evan Jonigkeit (The Following) as Toad, Josh Helman (Mad Max: Fury Road) as William Stryker and Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones) as Bolivar Trask.
