No more Scream movies as Wes Craven is “done” with Kevin Williamson

July 25, 2014 by admin

For those who thought the Scream franchise had found new life after Scream 4 (or was it Scre4m?) might be in for some heartache according to screenwriter Kevin Williamson. In an interview with Cinefiles at last week’s 2014 Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour, Willamson talked openly about the future of the Scream franchise…

“It’s weird, when I pitched Scream 4, I pitched Scream 4, 5 and 6,” Williamson explained to a few journalists. “I pitched a whole new trilogy. I guess Scream 4 never took off in a way they hoped, and so…”

It was announced last year that MTV were working on a TV series based on Scream, which Williamson is not involved in. According to the writer, director Wes Craven and his team are “done” with him.

“I’m curious. I’ll watch it. I’ll give it a go,” he said of the TV show. “Teen Wolf turned out to be a fun romp–I enjoy the hell out of that–so maybe MTV’s on a roll and it will be a good, cool thriller.

However, he was quick to note that the pitches he had for future movies are still available, “it’s all here [pointing to his head] and my computer … if they wanna buy it from me!”.

The Scream TV series currently doesn’t have a writer or director, but is being developed by the team behind The Hills, Tony DiSanto and Liz Gateley.
