The Sinister Six gets 2016 release date as The Amazing Spider-Man 3 pushed back to 2018

July 23, 2014 by Gary Collinson

We’ve been hearing talk from the likes of Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman suggesting that Sony may have jumped the gun when it came to announcing 2016 and 2018 release dates for The Amazing Spider-Man 3 and The Amazing Spider-Man 4, and it seems that is indeed the case after all, with the studio announcing a reshuffle of its Spidey plans today.

Fans of Andrew Garfield’s wall-crawler are going to have to wait until 2018 to see Spidey back on the big screen in The Amazing Spider-Man 3, with the studio opting instead to move ahead with its supervillain ensemble The Sinister Six first, with the Drew Goddard-directed flick set to land on November 11th 2016. Meanwhile, video game adaptation Uncharted moves into The Amazing Spider-Man 3’s original date of June 10th, 2016.

Quite where this leaves The Amazing Spider-Man 4 is anyone’s guess. Garfield will be pushing 35 years of age by the time the third movie swings into cinemas, so could he realistically return to the role for a fourth outing, or will he be too old to portray Peter Parker by that point?
