Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice shooting scenes in IMAX

November 13, 2014 by Thomas Roach

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has moved from Detroit to Chicago to do a final month’s filming before post production. Last night the set of the film was getting ready to shoot the Wayne’s murder scene, which is an iconic moment from the Batman story. It has now been revealed that this scene was shot in IMAX.

Twitter user Mike Eisenberg, who is a Chicago local and runs a production company, was near the set last night and tweeted about it. He first said “Lots of people waiting in cold to watch scene film, but it looked like the IMAX cameras were not handling the cold well. Could be a while.”

He then confirmed that they were using IMAX cameras to shoot the iconic scene: “I can confirm with my own eyes that Batman v Superman is filming at least the Wayne murder scene with full IMAX film cameras.”

It is no surprise that IMAX cameras are being used for the film. Christopher Nolan used them in his Batman movies for some pivotal scenes and it looks like Zack Synder may be following the same trend.

Are you excited that Batman v Superman is shooting in IMAX? Let us know…

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice hits theaters on March 25th, 2016 with Zack Snyder directing a cast that includes returning Man of Steel stars Henry Cavill (Superman), Amy Adams (Lois Lane), Diane Lane (Martha Kent), Laurence Fishburne (Perry White) and Harry Lennix (General Swanwick) alongside Ben Affleck (Argo) as Batman, Gal Gadot (Fast & Furious 6) as Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa (Game of Thrones) as Aquaman, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Jesse Eisenberg (Now You See Me) as Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons (The Borgias) as Alfred Pennyworth and Jena Malone (Sucker Punch), Holly Hunter (The Piano), Callan Mulvey (300: Rise of an Empire), Tao Okamoto (The Wolverine) and Scoot McNairy (Argo) in as-yet-unrevealed roles.
