Justice League to begin filming in late 2016?

January 14, 2015 by James Garcia

Ben Affleck has a busy few years ahead of him; apart from playing Batman in several upcoming DC Comics films, he has his own film, an adaptation of Dennis Lehane’s Live By Night scheduled for 2016 as David Fincher and Gillian Flynn’s remake of Strangers on a Train.

Deadline recently outlined a rough timeframe of Affleck’s shooting schedule, and may have given us an idea of when Zack Snyder’s first Justice League film will begin filming.

According to the site, Affleck will fit both Live by Night and Strangers on a Train into his schedule before donning the Dark Knight’s cape and cowl once more. Live by Night will shoot sometime later this year in time for a Spring 2016 release, with Strangers on a Train going into production soon after in order for Affleck to join the rest of the Justice League in the summer or fall of 2016.

That may seem a bit cramped, but by the time Justice League goes into production a lot of the pre-vis work will have been done, and a six or seven month shoot would allow enough time for Zack Snyder to devote to post-production before the film’s November 2017 release date.

As I said, this is just a rough timeline, and subject to shift depending on what happens over the next year. Plus, we still have two DC films slated for release between Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League (Suicide Squad in August of 2016 and Wonder Woman in July of 2017), so depending on what happens with those films, the plan for DC’s big team-up could change.

As always, we’ll keep you posted about these films as more news becomes available.
