Last night the official Marvel Twitter account revealed that a series of announcements about the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy animated show will be make this week, and now we have our first piece of news, with Kevin Michael Richardson set to step into Vin Diesel’s shoes by lending his voice to Groot.
Richardson has previously voiced Groot in Ultimate Spider-Man (where he also supplies the voice of several characters, including Juggernaut), Avengers Assemble, and Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes. His other past Marvel credits include Bishop in Wolverine and the X-Men and several characters in The Spectacular Spider-Man.

UPDATE: It has now been announced that Trevor Devall will supply the voice of Rocket Raccoon in the animated series, having already portrayed the gun-toting Rocket in ‘The Return of the Guardians of the Galaxy’ episode of Ultimate Spider-Man.
If they’re sticking with the cast from that episode, expect Chris Cox as Star-Lord, Nika Futterman as Gamora and David Sobolov as Drax the Destroyer.
