Joss Whedon says he “was never thrilled” that Fox used Quicksilver in X-Men: Days of Future Past

March 29, 2015 by Gary Collinson

During a lengthy piece over at Buzzfeed, Joss Whedon and Kevin Feige have been speaking about introducing the Maximoff twins Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch into the world of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the upcoming sequel Avengers: Age of Ultron, during which the director and producer commented on 20th Century Fox’s decision to include the silver-haired speedster in last year’s X-Men: Days of Future Past.

“It’s a unique scenario,” said Feige. “That’s the only character where that could happen, and it happened. We knew it would be very different based on the various interpretations of the character through the comic. It may as well be different characters.”

“Months after I started [on Age of Ultron], they were like, [Days of Future Past] just changed Juggernaut to Quicksilver. I’m like, ‘What?!’,” added Whedon. “There’s going to be an entire season of The Flash that’s gone on before my movie too, and what Aaron is doing and what I wanted him to do is so different from what they were doing in that movie, that I think we’re fine. I think there’s room for more than one Quicksilver. But yeah, I was never thrilled.”
