Paramount looking to expand its Transformers output with a multi-part sequel and spin-off films

March 27, 2015 by Gary Collinson

Having topped the worldwide box office chart in 2014 with Transformers: Age of Extinction, it looks like Paramount Pictures is keen on expanding its output for the Robots in Disguise, with Deadline revealing that the studio has launched a “writer’s room” for a multi-part Transformers sequel and spin-off films, a la Disney’s plans for Star Wars.

According to the site, Akiva Goldsman is in talks to work with Michael Bay, producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura and executive producer Steven Spielberg to generate ideas for the Hasbro franchise, which has so far generated over $3.7 billion with its first four movies.

Are you excited about the prospect of a shared Transformers movie universe, and what kind of spin-off movies would you like to see? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below…
