After we reported the news of its record-breaking first two days of international release, Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron continued the trend through its first weekend of release with a massive opening, according to Deadline.
Age of Ultron opened to a reported $201 million in its first weekend of international screenings, beating the first film’s haul by a whopping 44% and breaking many records along the way. Debuting at number one in all of the countries it opened (all 44 of them), the comic-book superhero sequel is on its way to becoming Marvel’s biggest film yet.
South Korea saw the biggest opening for the film at around $28.2 million, with the UK second on the list with a gross of $27.3 million. Russia ($16.2 million), Brazil ($13.1 million) and Australia ($13.1 million) followed swiftly, while the IMAX release of the film added $10.4 million in total.
Avengers: Age of Ultron is out now in the UK and opens in North America on May 1st, with Joss Whedon directing a cast that includes Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Chris Evans (Captain America), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Mark Ruffalo (The Incredible Hulk), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), Don Cheadle (War Machine), Cobie Smulders (Maria Hill), Samuel L.
