James Frain joins Gotham season 2 as Tigress’ brother

June 25, 2015 by James Garcia

Originally published June 25, 2015. Updated April 13, 2018.

The first major casting addition for Gotham‘s second season has officially been unveiled: According to Deadline, True Blood and Orphan Black actor James Frain has joined the Batman prequel show as a series regular.

Frain will play Theo Galavan, the brother of DC Comics villainess Tabitha Galavan, a.k.a. Tigress. Theo is not a character from the pages of DC Comics, and none of the three Tigresses in DC’s history were named Tabitha Galavan, so expect some major skewing of the villain’s origin story.

The duo are expected to cause quite a stir in Gotham City, as suggested by Deadline’s description of the characters:

“Galavan is the savior the city has been waiting for – he is sexy, heroic, and lovingly devoted to his sister Tabitha. But behind Galavan’s altruism is a centuries-old vendetta. Galavan and Tabitha (aka Tigress) will take chaos and violence to a new level in order to bleed Gotham. Their plan will lead to the creation of new villains… and the destruction of others.”
