Second Star Wars Anthology movie to focus on Han Solo and Boba Fett?

June 3, 2015 by Luke Owen

Originally published June 3, 2015. Updated November 7, 2019.

Following the rumour of Ewan McGregor reprising his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi for a new trilogy of Star Wars movies, the chaps over at Schmoes Know have another rumour about the second Star Wars Anthology movie, which will be released following Gareth Edward’s Star Wars: Rogue One.

This new rumour claims that the second Star Wars spinoff will focus on the battles between Han Solo and the bounty hunter Boba Fett that were teased throughout the Original Trilogy. Their source says that Disney are keen to dive into the “hive of scum and villany” that Star Wars is known for and sees this movie as a modern Western. They also claim the film will feature Chewbacca, Lando Calrissian, and Bossk.

So, we’ve had rumours of a Boba Fett movie and a Han Solo movie in the past and Latino-Review reported that Gareth Edward’s anthology movie was going to be focused on Solo and Fett, but that turned out to be Star Wars: Rogue One. So for now, let’s take this one with a pinch of salt. Schmoes Know seem very certain of this story on the other hand, and are saying that Disney are fully committed to doing a Han Solo vs. Boba Fett flick.

The second Star Wars anthology movie was to be helmed by Josh Trank (Fantastic Four), but he has since vacated the director’s chair. Some websites are reporting that both Jon Faverau (Iron Man) and Matthew Vaughn (Kingsman: The Secret Service) are in the running.
