Three more DC characters coming to Supergirl

August 11, 2015 by Gary Collinson

During the Television Critics Association summer press tour, Supergirl executive producers Greg Berlanti and Geoff Johns and showrunner Ali Adler have been speaking about the upcoming superhero series, revealing three more DC characters who are set to join the roster of the show.

According to THR, Lois Lane’s (and Lucy Lane’s) father General Sam Lane will feature “with an agenda”, alongside the superhero Red Tornado, as well as the Kryptonian Non – General Zod’s sidekick from Superman: The Movie and Superman II, who will be a “slightly different take” than his big screen counterpart.

The producers also noted that the show will take inspiration from the Christopher Reeve Superman films, although we shouldn’t expect an appearance from the Man of Steel himself:

“He will be a factor in her life but you won’t see him exactly on screen; he’ll be in the background but he does play a part in her evolution,” said Johns, with Adler adding that: “As much as we respect the history of Superman, it’s very much [Kara/Supergirl’s] point of view.”
