Wesley Snipes says he’s had “positive and very favorable” discussions with Marvel about Blade return

August 12, 2015 by Gary Collinson

During the San Diego Comic-Con back in July, Wesley Snipes suggested that he’d met with Marvel Studios about a potential return as Blade, and now the action star has spoken briefly to CBR about the alleged talks.

“Well, we’ve had some discussions,” states Snipes, who portrayed the Daywalker in New Line Cinema’s trilogy of films before the rights reverted back to Marvel (and before he spent time in the slammer). “We have had very positive and favorable discussions about the Blade character and other things they have in mind. We’ll see where it goes.”

Should it not go as planned for Snipes, he also states he has another character in the pipeline: “For those Blade fans, if we never reprise Blade, I have another character that will stand toe to toe with Blade any day. It’s not done yet.”

Released in 1998, Blade helped to kickstart the current superhero movie boom and was followed by two sequels in 2002 and 2005. However, despite Snipes’ enthusiasm for a return to the role, you’d have to imagine the chances of Marvel tying the previous continuity into the MCU to be very slim indeed…

Would you like to see Snipes back as Blade? Let us know in the comments below.
