Young Ned Stark reportedly cast for Game of Thrones season 6

August 10, 2015 by Justin Cook

Although it’s still a mystery whether or not Jon Snow will return to Game of Thrones next season, fan favorite character Ned Stark will be coming back to the show.

However, it won’t be Sean Bean, who portrayed Ned Stark on the show’s first season, returning to the role. Instead, 13-year-old English actor Sebastian Croft will reportedly step in and play a young version of the character in a flashback. In the scene, he will be sparring with an older boy.

Not too long ago, a casting call was released indicating that the show was looking for a young actor with a “Northern accent,” “narrow face,” “green eyes” and “brown hair.” Game of Thrones fan site Watchers on the Wall then confirmed that the casting call was for a young Ned Stark.

Croft has a ton of stage experience, performing in such London West End productions as Matilda and Les Miserables. He also played the lead in the UK national tour of Oliver!.

The sixth season of Game of Thrones is currently in production, and the show will return to HBO in the spring.
