Naomi Scott cast as Kimberly in the Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers reboot

October 8, 2015 by Luke Owen

Following the recent birthday of original Pink Ranger Amy-Jo Johnson, Lionsgae and Saban Entertainment took to Instagram to announced that Naomi Scott (The Martian) has been cast as Kimberly Ann Hart aka The Pink Ranger for their Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers reboot.

Check out the post below:

It’s official! #NaomiScott will play the #PinkRanger in the @PowerRangersMovie!  Coming in 2017…

Scott beat out newcomer Stephanie Scott for the role.

According to a report posted last week, this new Kimberly will be an updated version of the Valley Girl persona we saw in the original series in the ’90s:

Kimberly – 17 years old, unconventionally cool all in a way the popular girls wish they were. In fact, she was one of those girls, but isn’t anymore. Not since she’s returned to school after an absence of 6 months. Rumors are flying as to why; rumors she seems not to care about, because she’s come back with this new rebel-without-a-cause, edgy attitude. But the truth is, it’s all masking a deep secret that makes her feel profoundly vulnerable.

Power Rangers is set for release on January 13th 2017, with Dean Israelite (Project Almanac) directing from a script by Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz (X-Men: First Class).
