Rooney Mara is yet to hear whether she’ll be recast in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo sequel

November 15, 2015 by Gary Collinson

Earlier this month it was revealed that Sony has decided to push ahead with a sequel to The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, relaunching the property with an adaptation of the fourth book in the Millennium series, The Girl in the Spider’s Web.

The original report stated that neither director David Fincher nor stars Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara would be back for the new film, with Alicia Vikander said to be in contention to take over the role of hacker Lisbeth Salander. However, it seems this is all news to Mara herself.

Speaking to E!, Mara was asked about the reports claiming that she and Daniel Craig would not be returning, responding that: “As far as I know I’m doing it until someone tells me otherwise. And then I still might do it!”

Would you like to see Rooney Mara back as Lisbeth Salander for The Girl in the Spider’s Web? Or should Sony recast the role and start afresh?
