Daisy Ridley praises Star Wars: Episode VIII script

December 20, 2015 by Justin Cook

After viewing Star Wars: The Force Awakens this weekend, many fans left the theater curious and excited about the future of the franchise and where the filmmakers will take the story next. Most of the questions left open at the end of movie will presumably be answered by Rian Johnson, as he is attached to write and direct Star Wars: Episode VIII, but unfortunately, it will be a little under a year and a half before the general public gets to see that film in full. Although questions may remain unanswered for quite some time, The Force Awakens cast member Daisy Ridley, who plays Rey in the film, shared her thoughts on what she’s seen of the next installment so far.

While speaking to Variety, the actress announced that she has read the script for Episode VIII and offered up her thoughts. Ridley said, “It’s very good; very good. Let’s see VII first and then we’ll talk about VIII. [Laughs.]”

Obviously, Daisy Ridley has every reason to praise the upcoming film, being a part of the franchise and all, but her enthusiasm about the project is reassuring nonetheless.

For the most part, fans who were turned off a bit by the Star Wars prequels seem to have thoroughly enjoyed The Force Awakens and are now anxiously anticipating whatever comes next, so the future of the Star Wars franchise looks as bright as ever.

Ridley and a number of other actors are set to reprise their roles for Episode VIII, while Benicio Del Toro is confirmed to be joining the cast as well. The film will hit theaters on May 26th, 2017.
