Leonardo DiCaprio on turning down the role of Anakin Skywalker in the Star Wars prequels

December 30, 2015 by Gary Collinson

During an interview with Shortlist, Leonardo DiCaprio has been speaking about some of the roles that he passed on his career, revealing that George Lucas wanted him to play Anakin Skywalker in the Star Wars prequels, but he decided to turn the offer down.

“I did have a meeting with George Lucas about [the Star Wars prequels],” states DiCaprio. “[I] just didn’t feel ready to take that dive. At that point.”

In addition to Anakin, DiCaprio reveals that he also met with Joel Schumacher about playing Robin in Batman Forever and with Sam Raimi about the role of Peter Parker in Spider-Man, but in both instances he opted against donning the suits.
