Well, you can chalk up another record for Deadpool. Having held onto top spot at the U.S. box office, adding $55 million in its second weekend, the film has now become the highest-grossing X-Men movie in North America.
Deadpool has earned $235.39 in the States after 10 days, surpassing the domestic totals set by X-Men: The Last Stand ($234.36 million), X-Men: Days of Future Past ($233.9 million), X2: X-Men United ($214.95 million), X-Men: First Class ($146.4 million) and The Wolverine ($132.6 million).

Internationally, Deadpool added another $85 million this weekend and is now sitting on $491.9 million. In terms of the X-Men franchise, only X-Men: Days of Future Past ($747.9 million) has earned more. Should it surpass that figure, it would also overtake The Matrix Reloaded ($742.1 million) to become the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time.
Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, DEADPOOL tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.

Deadpool is out now and sees Ryan Reynolds reprising the role of the Merc with a Mouth alongside T.J. Miller (Transformers: Age of Extinction) as Weasel, Morena Baccarin (Gotham) as Copycat, Gina Carano (Fast & Furious 6) as Angel Dust, Ed Skrein (Game of Thrones) as Ajax, Stefan Kapicic (24) as Colossus, Leslie Uggams (Roots) as Blind Al and newcomer Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead.
