Sylvester Stallone’s role in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 possibly revealed

March 11, 2016 by Justin Cook

Just a few days ago, Rocky and Rambo actor Sylvester Stallone was photographed on his way to the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 set with a copy of the film’s script in his hand, which started rumours that he may have a role in the upcoming superhero blockbuster. While Marvel Studios still hasn’t confirmed whether or not Stallone is an official cast member, in a new report from Heroic Hollywood, the outlet claims they know who Stallone is playing.

According to the site, Stallone is set to play a Ravager in the film and has already “shot some scenes.” If the report does turn out to be true, he will join Tommy Flanagan (Sons of Anarchy) as a new member of Yondu’s team of interstellar troublemakers. The Ravagers weren’t focused on that heavily in 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy, so the casting of these two highly-respected actors may be a good sign that the group’s role will be expanded in the sequel.

This year, Stallone earned his third career Oscar nomination for reprising his role as Rocky in Creed, but, in a shocking upset, ended up losing the award to Mark Rylance from Bridge of Spies. His future projects include such animated films as Animal Crackers and Ratchet and Clank and a Gregory Scarpa biopic entitled Scarpa.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is scheduled for release on April 28th 2017 in the UK and on May 5th in the States, with director James Gunn reuniting with returning cast members Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Dave Bautista (Drax), Bradley Cooper (Rocket), Vin Diesel (Groot), Karen Gillan (Nebula), Michael Rooker (Yondu), Glenn Close (Nova Prime) and Sean Gunn (Kraglin) alongside new additions Kurt Russell (The Hateful Eight), Elizabeth Debicki (The Man from U.N.C.L.E.), Chris Sullivan (The Drop), Tommy Flanagan (Sons of Anarchy) and Pom Klementieff (Oldboy).
