Angelina Jolie and Sarah Jessica Parker top Forbes list of highest-paid actresses

July 7, 2011 by admin

Forbes has compiled a list of Hollywood’s highest-paid actresses between May 2010 and May 2011, who earned a combined estimated total of $218 million (£136.5m) during that period. The list is based on information from agents, lawyers, producers and other industry insiders.

Tied for first place were Angelina Jolie and Sarah Jessica Parker, who earned an estimated $30 million (£18.7m) each. Jolie starred in two big budget action movies last year; Salt, which took $300m (£187m) worldwide and The Tourist, co-starring Johnny Depp, which took $280m (£174m).

Parker moved from 5th position the year before up to the top of list, thanks to income from reruns of the Sex and the City TV show as well as the movie sequel, a successful range of perfumes and a fashion line. The top earner from Forbes’ last list, Sandra Bullock, dropped to 9th place with earnings of $15m (£9.4m) after taking a year-long movie hiatus.

Here’s the Top Ten list of Hollywood’s highest paid actresses:

Joint 1st – Angelina Jolie and Sarah Jessica Parker ($30m)
Joint 3rd – Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon ($28m)
Joint 5th – Julia Roberts and Kristen Stewart ($20m)
7th – Katherine Heigl ($19m)
8th – Cameron Diaz ($18m)
9th – Sandra Bullock ($15m)
10th – Meryl Streep ($10m)
