Clark Gregg wants Agent Coulson to appear in Marvel’s Netflix series, won’t feature in Avengers: Age of Ultron

May 29, 2014 by Gary Collinson

As Marvel Studios prepares to expand its TV output, kicking off production on Netflix’s first Marvel miniseries Daredevil this July, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. star Clark Gregg has spoken to MoviePilot about the chances of fan favourite Agent Coulson appearing in the various upcoming Defenders miniseries:

“I’d be really disappointed if I don’t get to show up in New York for Daredevil, or Iron Fist was a huge favorite of mind in comic books as a kid. I’ve had more than my share so I shouldn’t be greedy, but it would be a huge geekout moment for me if I got to meet Daniel Rand.”

Coulson will of course be back for the second season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. in the fall, but anyone hoping to see Phil back on the big screen in next year’s Avengers: Age of Ultron looks to be out of luck, with Gregg stating that:

“I don’t think [I’ll be in Age of Ultron]. I think I would have heard about it by now, but I must say as a qualifier, the only way I ever hear about stuff like that is I get a weird phone message with not the right number of numbers on it and somebody says, ‘We need to talk to you.'”

Marvel is set to go into production on the first Defenders miniseries this July, with British actor Charlie Cox (Stardust, Boardwalk Empire) taking on the role of Matt Murdock under new showrunner Steven S. DeKnight (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Spartacus).
