Frank Grillo on the chances of returning as Brock Rumlow for Captain America 3

June 16, 2014 by Gary Collinson

With Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers set to return in Phase Three of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Captain America: The Winter Soldier star Frank Grillo has been chatting to Collider about the possibility of his character Brock Rumlow returning for 2016’s Captain America 3 (warning: The Winter Soldier spoilers follow).

“”I’m cautiously optimistic that you will see me in the not too distant future in the next installment of Captain America,” said Grillo. “We’ve had multiple discussions about what comes after that, that thing [at the end of Captain America: The Winter Soldier]. So, you know, it’s obvious Rumlow is covered in rubble and burned to crisp at the end, but you see he’s still there. They don’t do that for no reason.”

As Marvel fans will know, Rumlow is the comic-book alter-ego of Crossbones – the villain responsible for killing Steve Rogers in the aftermath of Marvel’s Civil War storyline, and Grillo then went on to tease a more familiar look for his character next time around, stating that: “He needs a costume! Coincidentally it could be a mask with a crossbones on it.”

Captain America 3 will be directed by The Winter Soldier duo Joe and Anthony Russo, and is set to hit on May 6th 2016 – the same day as Warner Bros.’ Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
