There’s a good chance that George Osbourne will need to find himself a new job come the next General Election, and it seems he fancies himself as a movie scooper, with the Chancellor of the Exchequer paying a visit to the set of Star Wars: Episode VII and revealing that Gareth Edwards’ (Godzilla) forthcoming Star Wars spin-off movie will shoot at Pinewood Studios next year.
Abrams is busy shooting Episode VII at Pinewood at present, with a cast that includes returning Star Wars veterans Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Harrison Ford (Han Solo), Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia), Anthony Daniels (C-3PO), Kenny Baker (R2-D2) and Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca) joined by Adam Driver (Girls), Oscar Isaac (Inside Llewyn Davis), Andy Serkis (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes), Domhnall Gleeson (Dredd), John Boyega (Attack the Block), Daisy Ridley (Silent Witness), Gwendoline Christie (Game of Thrones), Lupita Nyong’o (12 Years a Slave) and Max von Sydow (The Exorcist). Episode VII is set for release in December 2015, with Edwards’ spin-off to follow in 2016 and Chronicle director Josh Trank also attached to a standalone movie, which is expected to arrive in 2018 following the release of Star Wars: Episode VIII the previous year.
