Dwayne Johnson confirms he’ll play Black Adam in Shazam movie

September 3, 2014 by Thomas Roach

Dwayne Johnson has taken to Twitter to announce that he will play the villain Black Adam in an upcoming Shazam movie. It has been known for some time that The Rock would have a role in an upcoming DC movie, with speculation early on that he could be playing the Jon Stewart version of Green Lantern, Lobo, Doomsday, and even Shazam.

It was revealed a few weeks ago that the DC project that Johnson was attached to was in fact Shazam but the actor was unsure which role he wanted. He was reportedly given the choice to either portray the hero Shazam or the villain Black Adam. As of yet Shazam has not confirmed release date though it is assumed it will have the August 2016 slot that was revealed when Warner Bros and DC announced their cinematic line up for the next few years.

Are you excited to see Dwayne Johnson play Black Adam? Or would you rather he played Shazam? Let us know your thoughts…
