Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer reportedly arriving on Friday

November 22, 2014 by Gary Collinson

Over the past we’ve heard several rumours about the impending trailer for Disney and Lucasfilm’s hugely-anticipated Star Wars: The Force Awakens; there’s been the obligatory alleged trailer description, along with reports that it will make its debut in cinemas with The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies on December 17th. However, it seems we may not have to wait that long…

According to a rumour on Reddit, Disney is looking to launch the first trailer this Friday with a special even that will see it shown before every movie in 100 U.S. theaters this weekend, starting on Friday. Apparently said theaters have been told that Big Hero 6 has to be shown at the earliest showtime on each of those days, with the studio no doubt looking to boost the takings of its animated Marvel adaptation by capitalising on the Star Wars fever.

If true, it looks like we’re going to be in for a huge week trailer-wise, what with the first teaser for Jurassic World arriving on Thursday…

UPDATE – Here’s a GIF file that Making Star Wars is suggesting could be from the trailer…

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is set for release on December 18th 2015 and sees returning stars Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Harrison Ford (Han Solo), Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia), Anthony Daniels (C-3PO), Kenny Baker (R2-D2) and Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca) joined by Adam Driver (Girls), Oscar Isaac (Inside Llewyn Davis), Andy Serkis (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes), Domhnall Gleeson (Dredd), John Boyega (Attack the Block), Daisy Ridley (Silent Witness), Gwendoline Christie (Game of Thrones), Lupita Nyong’o (12 Years a Slave), Miltos Yerolemou (Game of Thrones), Max von Sydow (The Exorcist), Christina Chong (24: Live Another Day) and newcomers Crystal Clarke and Pip Andersen.
