Colin Trevorrow and Chris Pratt talk Jurassic World

December 19, 2014 by Chris Cooper

By now we’ve all seen the trailer for Jurassic World, a return to the world created 22 years ago (blimey that makes me feel old) by Steven Spielberg and Michael Crichton. In it we see that us humans may have learnt from the past and built a dinosaur theme park that actually works, but as Ian Malcolm pointed out, we’re now just making all new mistakes! Director Colin Trevorrow and star Chris Pratt were speaking to Entertainment Weekly, and both had a tiny bit to say about the new film.

“There are dinosaurs and there’s the other—there’s this thing that is not one of them, that is not of them,” Trevorrow said. “There’s a lot of bold new ideas in the movie and I’m pushing it as far forward as I can. I know Steven didn’t want me to make a carbon copy of the earlier films. So we’re going for it.”

Pratt made it clear how important the franchise is to him personally. “I grew up loving Jurassic Park and these epic spectacles,” he says. “I saw [the first one] opening night in the theater. It was a huge moment for me.”

Jurassic World is set for release on June 12th 2015, with a cast that includes stars Chris Pratt (Guardians of the Galaxy), Bryce Dallas Howard (Terminator Salvation), Jake Johnson (New Girl), Vincent D’Onofrio (Law & Order: Criminal Intent), Omar Sy (X-Men: Days of Future Past), BD Wong (Jurassic Park), Irrfan Khan (The Amazing Spider-Man), Judy Greer (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes), Nick Robinson (The Kings of Summer), and Lauren Lapkus (Orange is the New Black).
