New rumours of Luke Skywalker’s role in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and flashback sequences

March 2, 2015 by admin

WARNING – POTENTIAL SPOILERS BELOW

We’re less than 300 days away from Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but the reports and rumours are still coming in thick and fast. We’ve already had rumours that Darth Vader would be in the film in some capacity (possibly in a flashback) and now we have new rumours that back those claims up.

According to Making Star Wars, Robert Boulter (not announced in the cast list as of yet) has joined Star Wars: The Force Awakens to play a young Luke Skywalker in a flashback sequence. This would play into the opening of the movie, in which Han Solo (Harrison Ford), Finn (John Boyega) and Rey (Daisy Ridley) go to Rose’s Bar, owned by Rose (Lupita Nyong’o) who is a puppet similar to Yoda.

Below is a breakdown of the flashback:

  • Dead bodies lay on the floor of a Jedi Academy. Luke shows up, sees what has happened, and departs.
  • R2-D2 is sad because he is not accompanying his master on the trip.
  • In the savannah environment from the opening sequence, the hand that took the lightsaber is revealed to be Naka’s.
  • In the savannah location, a peasant drops the lightsaber, starts a fire, and panics.
  • A local trader is seen leaving the desert and makes a sale to a wealthy man.
  • At night in an undisclosed location, there is a “fierce battle” between two groups known as the Clan and the Seven. The Clan is using the lightsaber against their enemies.
  • Once the last man is down, we see Kylo Ren (the cross guard lightsaber-wielding villain) approach Rey.
  • Finally, the Seven are seen looting in search of an object, as Rose is shown in the foreground with the lightsaber.

What follows is Rey and Finn being presented with a lightsabre and a battle between Kylo Ren and his army of stormtroopers.

According to the report, Luke Skywaker will not be in Star Wars: The Force Awakens until the very end of the movie, and will play a more substantial role in Star Wars: Episode VIII.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is set for release on December 18th 2015 and also sees returning stars Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Harrison Ford (Han Solo), Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia), Anthony Daniels (C-3PO), Kenny Baker (R2-D2) and Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca) joined by Adam Driver (Girls), Oscar Isaac (A Most Violent Year), Andy Serkis (Avengers: Age of Ultron), Domhnall Gleeson (Ex Machina), John Boyega (Attack the Block), Daisy Ridley (Silent Witness), Gwendoline Christie (Game of Thrones), Lupita Nyong’o (12 Years a Slave), Miltos Yerolemou (Game of Thrones), Max von Sydow (The Exorcist), Jessica Henwick (Spirit Warriors), Christina Chong (24: Live Another Day) and newcomers Crystal Clarke and Pip Andersen.
