Russell Brand, Rainn Wilson and more join Nicolas Cage in Army Of One

April 18, 2015 by William Fanelli

If you are a fan of films like Borat, The Dictator and Brüno, then chances are you are pretty excited for the latest directorial effort by Larry Charles — the Nicolas Cage-led comedy Army Of One. Now with the inclusion of some top-tier comedians, the project is looking even more promising.

The upcoming satire has just picked up a whole slew of hilarious comedians which, according to Deadline, includes the likes of Russell Brand, Rainn Wilson, Ken Marino, Paul Scheer and Denis O’Hare. The crew is set to join the already-announced Wendi McLendon-Covey (Bridesmaids) in the assassination comedy, which is now in production.

Army Of One was penned by Scott Rothman and Rajiv Joseph and loosely based on a GQ article by Chris Heath. It’s inspired by the true story of Colorado handyman Gary Faulkner, who has no proper skills or prior military training, sees a vision that instructs him to go to Pakistan to capture terrorist leader Osama bin Laden. Needless to say, he follows his vision.

Prior to the upcoming feature, Larry Charles was hard at work on his FX comedy series The Comedians starring Billy Crystal and Josh Gad. The series debuted on April 9 and follows a veteran comedian who reluctantly joins a much younger, edgier comedian for a late-night sketch comedy show project.

Charles’ Army Of One is being distributed by TWC-Dimension with hopes for a 2015 release.
