Warner Bros., DC and Mattel launching female led DC Super Hero Girls universe

April 23, 2015 by Gary Collinson

Warner Bros., DC Entertainment and Mattel have announced that they are to launch a new female-centred superhero universe entitled DC Super Hero Girls, which is aimed at girls aged six to twelve and will feature the comic book publisher’s stable of female characters as relatable teens.

“DC Entertainment is home to the most iconic and well-known Super Heroes including Wonder Woman, Supergirl and Batgirl,” states DC Entertainment president Diane Nelson. “DC Super Hero Girls represents the embodiment of our long-term strategy to harness the power of our diverse female characters. I am so pleased that we are able to offer relatable and strong role models in a unique way, just for girls.”

Characters set to feature in the line include Wonder Woman, Supergirl, Batgirl, Harley Quinn, Bumble Bee, Poison Ivy and Katana, and products will include TV specials, made-for-videos movies, toys, apparel and books, as well as LEGO products.

DC Super Hero Girls will launch in 2016.
