Who could Maisie Williams be playing in Doctor Who?

July 18, 2015 by Villordsutch

Villordsutch on who Maisie Williams could be playing in the Doctor Who universe…

With series 9 of Doctor Who just around the corner and the trailer being released recently at SDCC 2015 [if you’ve missed it watch it here] there is currently a lot of speculation on who Maisie Williams could be playing within this new series of Doctor Who, particularly due to the fact she seems to know the Time Lord.  Well reaching across some of the fanbase – on the numerous social networks – we’ve asked who the Whovians believe Maisie could be and the guesses are revealed below.

Maisie Williams – Who is she?

Jenny – Last seen in the episode “The Doctor’s Daughter” and is technically – by way of cloning – the Doctor’s daughter.  She is believed (by the Doctor) to be deceased, however viewers witnessed her Time Lord-like resurrection at the end of the episode, where she promptly then stole a shuttle and took to saving planets, rescuing civilisations and touring the universe.

Jenny – The Doctor’s (Cloned) Daughter.

Susan – The link to the true biological daughter of the Doctor.  Susan is the granddaughter of the Doctor and was his companion from the first episode, ‘An Unearthly Child‘ with William Hartnell.  She herself is a Time Lord, but hasn’t been seen since Doctor Who’s 20th Anniversary episode “The Five Doctors”.

Susan, the Doctor’s Granddaughter.

The Rani –  Another female Time Lord, whose morales are somewhat questionable.  She doesn’t take kindly to stupidity and generally stupidity is found in anyone that isn’t her.  She has had numerous schemes that have tested the Doctor and have also fooled the Master.  On one occasion her plans have even led to a forced regeneration of the Doctor in “Time and the Rani”.

The Rani

Romana – Romana again another Time Lord (Time Lady), to give her full title Romanadvoratrelundar (or Fred). Romana first appeared with the Fourth Doctor story “Key of Time” where she was initially assigned to assist him with his mission and after the initial disagreements they soon became close companions.  Romana chose to regenerate at one point during their travels taking on the appearance of Princess Astra of Atrios, she did not need to regenerate however, she just wanted a change her look for reasons unknown; though many are speculated.  Romana was last seen within E-Space, a smaller universe existing alongside our normal N-Space universe.

River Song – Perhaps one of her numerous regenerations along her merry path towards her transformation where she became  a friend of Rory and Amy Pond (Dad and Mum). We don’t know her complete history and this could be part of it.

Somebody Completely New – The “It’s you” has been thrown in just to get the juices flowing and all us Whovians across the world are having a mini-freakout and generating articles like this as we speculate who Maisie Williams could be!

So there we have some of the main contenders.  Who do you think Maisie Williams could be?  Do you agree with those suggested above or do you think she could be somebody completely different, let us know below?

Villordsutch would like to thank the following G+ communites Doctor Who (Bigger on the Inside), Doctor Who (The only Doctor Who community you’ll ever need), and also on Facebook The Last Gallifreyan for all of the input towards building this list.
