Rumour: Marvel Studios scrapping Inhumans movie

October 10, 2015 by Gary Collinson

Yesterday it was announced that Marvel Studios had rejigged some of its Phase Three plans, adding Ant-Man and the Wasp as well as three as-yet-unrevealed titles, as well as shifting release dates for Black Panther and Captain Marvel.

Now a rumour has emerged regarding another Phase Three movie, with Bleeding Cool suggesting that the studio has decided to pull the plug on the Inhumans movie, which is slated for release in July 2019.

Apparently, Inhumans had been pushed for by the television side of Marvel, which is now separate from the movie side following the recent Marvel restructuring which saw Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige reporting directly to Disney, while the TV side remained under the control of Marvel CEO Ike Perlmutter.

Of course, the Inhumans are now a huge part of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., so clearly they are a big part of Marvel Television’s plans, and it was thought that they’d serve as a replacement for the X-Men in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, until we hear something official, we should probably file this in the rumour drawer for the time being.

UPDATE: Both HitFix and Birth.Movies.Death are reporting that the above rumour is false, and Inhumans is still moving ahead as planned.
