Dan Stevens, Aubrey Plaza and Jean Smart join X-Men series Legion

February 5, 2016 by Gary Collinson

Back in January it was announced that Rachel Keller (Fargo) had been cast in the upcoming X-Men TV series Legion, and now The Hollywood Reporter has word on three more additions to the show.

Dan Stevens (The Guest) is set to play David Haller (who, in the comics at least, is the son of Charles Xavier), “a haunted man trying to find his way back to sanity; he’s getting tired and is about to give up when he meets the girl of his dreams.”

Aubrey Plaza (Dirty Grandpa) will portray the character of “Lenny, David’s friend who, despite a life of drugs and alcohol abuse, knows that any day now her life is going to turn around — which gives Lenny the likeable energy of the impossible optimist despite her rough demeanor.”

And finally, Jean Smart (Fargo) has been cast as Melanie, “a nurturing, demanding therapist with a sharp mind and unconventional methods.”

Legion is said to be nearing a series pickup at FX, although don’t expect any crossovers with the X-Men movies as they will take place in “parallel universes”.
