Director James Bobin in talks for 23 Jump Street / Men in Black crossover

March 5, 2016 by Gary Collinson

During the big Sony hack in December 2014, it was revealed that the studio was developing a crossover movie which would bring together the Jump Street and Men in Black franchises, and now Variety is reporting that the project may have found a director.

According to the site, James Bobin (The Muppets, Flight of the Conchords) is in early talks to direct the film, which is eyeing a June production start date. Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum will reprise their roles from 21 Jump Street and 22 Jump Street, although Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones won’t be featuring as the studio is looking to relaunch the franchise with younger actors.

Should Bobin secure the gig, he will succeed 21 Jump Street and 22 Jump Street helmers Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who remain on board as producers but are unable to direct the project owing to their commitments to the young Han Solo Star Wars Anthology movie.
