Rainn Wilson & Christopher Backus join Cameron Crowe’s Roadies

March 19, 2016 by William Fanelli

The forthcoming hour-long comedy series Roadies just picked up a couple more cast members. The Office star Rainn Wilson has officially signed on for a recurring role, as has Christopher Backus.

Roadies is the new series, written and directed by Cameron Crowe, expected to air on Showtime in June. The show follows a group of roadies touring the United States with the huge rock group, The Staton-House Band and gives viewers a unique look at the music world through their eyes. As Deadline reports, Wilson will play the character of well known music journalist Bryce Newman, while Backus will take on the role of Rick, The Staton House Band’s bass player.

The below trailer gives a brief glimpse into the show, which promises Crowe’s trademark blended style of romance, comedy and drama that fans have come to love.

Wilson and Backus join Roadies’ extensive cast made up of Luke Wilson, Carla Gugino, Imogen Poots, Rafe Spall, Peter Cambor, Keisha Castle-Hughes, Colson Baker and Ron White. Guest stars include Luis Guzman, Jacqueline Byers, Branscombe Richmond, Finesse Mitchell and Tanc Sade.

Wilson is best known for portraying Dwight Schrute on NBC’s The Office. His other TV work consists of roles on HBO’s Six Feet Under, Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job! and Backstrom. Backus, who’s slated to appear in a handful of movies this year, can be seen on WGN’s Underground.

Roadies premieres on Showtime Sunday, June 26th.
