J.A. Bayona to direct Jurassic World 2

April 18, 2016 by Scott J. Davis

After conquering the box office last summer with over $1.6 million around the globe, Universal has found its new director for the 2018 sequel to Jurassic World 2.

Acclaimed filmmaker J.A. Bayona has signed on to direct, with World’s Colin Trevorrow stepping aside to helm Star Wars: Episode IX. Bayona had been attached to another sequel, World War Z 2, but bowed out recently and today both Trevorrow and producer Frank Marshall have taken to Twitter to confirm the news.

Bayona rose to prominence with films such as The Orphanage and The Impossible, while his next effort, an adaptation of book A Monster Calls, is set to arrive in October.

Jurassic World 2 is set for release on June 8th 2018, with Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard both returning.
