Channing Tatum still attached to Fox’s Gambit movie

January 16, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Given that it was first announced way back in 2014, has already missed a couple of production starts and planned release dates, and passed through the hands of directors Rupert Wyatt and Doug Liman, you’d be forgiven for thinking that 20th Century Fox had decided to give up on its plans for the Channing Tatum-headlined Gambit movie.

Back in August of last year, producer Simon Kinberg revealed that they were still looking to perfect the script, and could potentially move forward at some point this year. Well, now we have another update from fellow producer Lauren Shuler Donner who has reportedly revealed that the Television Critics Association that the project is still on the studio’s slate, and Tatum continues to remain attached.

Channing Tatum is still attached to play Gambit in a standalone #XMen movie, Lauren Shuler Donner told press in the scrum #TCA17

Given that it’s without a finished script, nor does it have a director attached, it would be a major surprise at this point if Gambit starts moving moving forward any time soon, particularly as Fox has X-Men: The New Mutants, Deadpool 2 and the next instalment of the main series in the pipeline.
