The Inhumans to begin filming in March, ABC wants it to exist “side-by-side” with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

January 18, 2017 by Gary Collinson

It looks like we should soon expect some casting news on Marvel’s The Inhumans, with Production Weekly reporting that the ABC and IMAX-produced series is set to begin filming in Chicago and Los Angeles this March.

The eight-episode Inhuman series is set to get underway in September, with Scott Buck (Iron Fist) serving as showrunner, and will begin with a two-week IMAX release for the first two episodes, before shifting to ABC from September 26th.

As ABC is yet to make an announcement on a fifth season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and The Inhumans is set to air on the same night, there’s been some speculation that Agent Coulson and company could be on borrowed time; however, it seems that ABC is looking for the two shows to compliment each other, judging by the comments from network president Channing Dungey at the Television Critics Association winter press tour:

“SHIELD is in its fourth season and every year, that show has gotten creatively stronger and better,” Dungey tells The Hollywood Reporter. “It was the first out of the gate for us and with Marvel, and we all have been learning a lot over the four years of that show. What we’re doing with Imax is very different, and I think it’s going to feel and look very different from what they’re doing on Netflix. Hopefully there’s a world for me where those shows exist side-by-side on our air and are two different pieces of music that exist together in the same landscape.”

Are you excited about The Inhumans? Hopeful that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will get a fifth season? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below…
