Henry Cavill joins Tom Cruise in the cast of Mission: Impossible 6

March 17, 2017 by Tai Freligh

In a bit of unorthodox casting news tonight, director Christopher McQuarrie took to Instagram to offer Superman actor Henry Cavill a role in the latest Mission: Impossible film from Paramount.

Say, @henrycavill. Had a thought. Curious if you’re interested in a role in the 6th installment of Mission: Impossible. No pressure.

A post shared by Christopher McQuarrie (@christophermcquarrie) on Mar 16, 2017 at 7:16pm PDT

McQuarrie and Cavill playfully bantered back and forth in the comments about the requirements of the job, including a few conditions, “Just a few caveats: must enjoy extreme heights, high speeds, motor vehicles of all varieties (especially aircraft), practical stunts, firearms, and sporadic exposition. All good?”, to which Cavill replied, “Oh ok…..I’m in!”.

The director sealed the deal with this final comment, “Outstanding. Welcome aboard. Your social media account will self destruct in 5 seconds.”

No word on what role he’ll play, but Cavill joins Tom Cruise, Rebecca Ferguson, Jeremy Renner, Simon Pegg and new female lead Vanessa Kirby (The Crown) in Mission: Impossible 6, written and directed by McQuarrie.  The film is expected to be released on July 27, 2018.
